My Story

Hi there, my name is Serenity! I have been practicing Acupuncture for over 14 years now. My interest in natural health started at a young age when I used to read books on the subject for fun. In 2009, I graduated from Bastyr University with a Master's of Science in Acupuncture. I also completed my birth doula training through Big Belly Services in Seattle, WA. More recently, I received my Community Ministry Certificate through Cherry Hill Seminary and have been pursuing my studies at The School of Applied Functional Medicine.

For three years I was sick, felt horrible, had pain and chronic infections. After years of seeing every kind of provider imaginable and being told to seek counseling (as if I was creating the pain in my head)  I figured out I was gluten intolerant which helped so many of my symptoms. I wasn't getting infections anymore, my muscle pain was gone and I felt that maybe this was the best it was going to get. However, years later I started to get joint pain, severe fatigue, brain fog, and irritability. I was diagnosed with autoimmune Hashimoto's hypothyroidism. Knowing that once you have one autoimmune disease, the risk of getting more significantly increases. I started eliminating more foods to find the triggers, which helped my joint pain but not much else. Through my functional medicine training I have worked on healing the root cause of my issues and finally have energy again! I can't believe how long I lived with suboptimal energy and physical health. I am so amazed and grateful for how amazing I feel now. Health is a lifelong journey and I continue to work on myself. I am so excited to help you feel as vibrant and well as you can!

The Process

Before our session, you'll fill out my online health history questionnaire and send me your most recent lab results. I spend a lot of time before our session going over them and finding the interconnectedness of your symptoms. During our first session I ask some clarifying questions to sift out the root cause of your illness. We work together to try different lifestyle changes, stress management techniques, changes in diet, or supplements to get your health back on track. Often, we'll seek more clarifying blood work or other tests that can help pinpoint what's going on in your body. You are the one that has been living in your body and I believe you know best about what could be going on and what therapies feel right to you. We need to create the right environment for your body to heal itself.
